Gorgeous French picture hook covers known as Cache Clous which means "hide the hook" in French. This is a great French idea but most people don't know how or what they are used for. They are decorative metal ornaments that are hooked over a nail when hanging your painting or picture. These are made to cover the unsightly nail and provide a more aesthetic look. There is a small fixing bracket on the back of each one that easily slips into position over the nail. When used as a cover they can provide a touch of French elegance to any room. Cache Clous can also used as embellishments on other things like mirrors and furniture. They make a lovely finishing touch to any room's decoration giving a nostalgic Chateau Chic feeling. I am not sure if these are brass, gilt and ormolu and it can be confusing at times. However these are all originals from France. Louis XVI style.
Please note that "C" actually has a tack pin on the back so maybe this pressed into the wall over the nail but I am not sure.
