Beautiful 1800's antique glass wax seal stamp. This type of wax seal is called a "Tassie Gem" after it's Scottish creator, James Tassie, and his nephew, William Tassie, who developed a method to mold engraved intaglios into glass gems. These wax seals were popular throughout the first half of the 19th century and are highly collectable today. This seal is clear glass with the inscription "Response s'iI vous plait" on it. Translated this means "Answer please". The seal measures 1.25" wide x .5" tall and sit .40" high. This piece is in wonderful condition given its age and it truly is a rare find.
