This is a nice little find. It is so unusual to find matching items still paired together. The seal has a domed base engraved with floral carvings and a handle shaped like a knot, topped with a suspension loop. The hollow, cylindrical tube on the left was inserted directly into a key-wind pocket watch to wind the mainspring or adjust the hands. The larger, ornate, bell-shaped base features a smooth, flat stone—such as agate, chalcedony, or opaque glass. This was pressed into hot wax to seal letters and documents. The metal loops connecting the two components allowed the owner to attach the piece directly to a pocket watch chain or ribbon fob, keeping it secured inside a waistcoat pocket. The entire piece measures 1.5" in length, and the diameter of the seal is .5".
