Add a rare, intimate touch of historic European faith to your curated collection with this petite 19th-century French religious statuette. This piece intricately depicts Notre-Dame des Victoires (Our Lady of Victory), a revered Marian representation originating from the historic basilica in Paris.
Despite its miniature footprint, the piece retains incredible detail. The Blessed Mother wears a majestic papal crown and holds the Infant Jesus, who stands atop a celestial globe surrounded by tiny clouds. The base subtly captures detailed cherub/angel faces molded directly into the plaster.
Crafted using traditional French chalkware (ancienne craie), it features the classic flat back with horizontal artisan tool marks from the open-faced casting mold—perfect for sitting flat against a display box wall or miniature niche. Over the last century, the unglazed plaster has aged into a beautiful, soft cream-and-amber-yellow patina.
