This is a beautiful, rare 18th-century relic representing St. Michael. This piece was part of a collection of 13 pieces. It is a stunning piece—a superb devotional shrine of St Michael. St. Michael is one of the archangels in Christianity and is often depicted as a spiritual warrior, protector, and champion of justice. He is seen as leading the heavenly forces in battle against evil, particularly Satan. St. Michael is also a patron saint of various groups, including soldiers, knights, and the Church. This relic measures 6.3" wide x 8.3" high and 1.6" deep. Many different materials were used in making this piece, including gilded paper, flowers, glass, an antique book, marbled paper, and other materials.
