Bring authentic 20th-century European charm into your space with this captivating original mid-century modernist floral still life. Painted by the listed French artist Vernon Bonfort (b. 1934), this striking oil painting features a vibrant bouquet of white daisies and rich autumnal flowers arranged in a minimalist black cylindrical vase. Set against a deep, moody olive-green background, the composition perfectly balances rustic warmth with vintage sophistication.

Executed with a masterful palette-knife technique, the artwork features thick, highly textured impasto layers. Bonfort’s signature style shines through the bold, expressive strokes and a complex color palette that seamlessly blends warm ochres, deep terracottas, and striking pops of cream and cerulean blue. It is a textbook example of mid-century French Post-Impressionism that adds incredible dimension and tactile visual interest to any wall.

Excellent vintage condition. The thick impasto layers remain stable with wonderful depth and color retention. The original stretched canvas backing shows standard age-appropriate toning. Whether styled as a striking standalone focal point or integrated into an eclectic gallery wall, this authentic French vintage painting grounds a room with texture and history. It is an ideal statement piece for modern, transitional, Hollywood Regency, or curated European cottage interiors.

Vernon Bonfort -
Born in Marseille, France, Robert Vernet-Bonfort (1934–2017) lost his hearing during early childhood due to illness. He leaned heavily into the visual arts as a way to communicate and express his inner world, describing his colorful artwork as a refuge from a silent universe. He is recognized as a member of the "Modern School of Marseille" (a sub-movement of Provençal school painting). His art combines classical techniques with stylized realism, subtle neo-expressionism, and occasional surrealist configurations. He favored the striking, rich, and contrasting color spectrums commonly found throughout the coastlines and landscapes of Southern France and Spain.
