Lovely 19th-century French ormolu frame. This piece is beautifully cast. It has three sections within the frame design. There are mounts on the back to hold pictures in place and a single triangle hanger to hang the frame. The overall piece measures 9" wide x 8.5" high, and the patina is perfect. This is an original from France and not a reproduction.

Ormolu - A gold-colored alloy of copper, zinc, and tin used in decorating furniture and making ornaments. The term originally referred to a process in which powdered gold was mixed with mercury and used to gild metal, a technique that was banned in the 19th century on account of its toxicity.
