This is a bolt of vintage, high-quality "Pelle Ovo" (batiste/percale) cotton fabric from the historical Italian merchant Michele Carofiglio, based in Lecce. Pelle Ovo (literally translating to "eggskin"). It is a traditional, lightweight, tightly woven, and incredibly soft Italian cotton fabric. It is highly prized by weavers and artisans for delicate hand-embroidery, heirloom sewing, premium bed linens, and traditional lacework. Produced or distributed by M. Carofiglio in Lecce, a historic fabric house active in the Apulia region of Italy during the 20th century. These vintage bolts were frequently manufactured in collaboration with elite historical mills like Manifattura Rossari & Varzi.
