Beautiful antique French red striped creamy linen/hemp household towels/torchon from the 1800's and they are very durable. These towels will last forever with the proper care. All of these towels need washing as these are right out of a cupboard from an old French farmhouse. We aquired a large lot from one dealer. I also purchased some of these for our stitchers as I think they are perfect for any needlwork projects as well as being used as towels. Each one of these has a loop hanger.
To clean hemp, linen or nettle wash in your washing machine with soap and warm water. Once removed from washing machine, snap out any wrinkles. Hang to dry and then press with a hot iron. The more these fibers are washed, the softer they become.
These measure 24" x 30".

Fun Fact -
“Torchon” means “dish towel” in French, since the foie gras was traditionally wrapped in a towel for cooking. Many prepared torchons are sold wrapped in a towel to make that historical connection.
