Antique French Le Fil Au Chinois tin. This is a small, colorful vintage tin with pretty graphics, designed to hold round bobbins with thread. There are two holes on either end to pull the thread from, "pour coudre solidement" (For sewing with confidence), "en pelotes en fil or" - balls of gold thread. So, initially, this little tin held two small bobbins of gold thread. Currently, the tin contains black and ecru thread bobbins, along with an assortment of needles. Maybe someone's personal traveling sewing kit for easy fixes? It would make a nice gift for the seamstress that you know, or to add to your tin collection.
It measures approximately 3.5" wide by 1" and is about 1" tall. The lid is hinged and in perfect working order.
