Beautiful antique War medals in a lovely frame. The left medal is the French Croix de Guerre (War Cross) with a bronze star. This is a military decoration established in 1915 to honor individual acts of bravery during World War I. A bronze Maltese cross with crossed swords between the arms. The right medal is the Croix du Combattant (Combatant's Cross), awarded to soldiers who served in combat. The center features Marianne's profile wearing a Phrygian cap, symbolizing the French Republic. They are mounted in an oval frame with a decorative bronze floral bow top and red velvet backing. The frame measures 7.75" x 7.25".
