A lovely antique Victorian sewing basket, circa late 19th century. This is a basket we acquired in Normandy, France, and it is completely handmade. This piece is woven from wicker, wood splint, and sweetgrass. It is intertwined with a lovely ribbon. It also has a tufted blue/green satin bottom basin. These Types of sewing baskets were used to contain and carry typical sewing and embroidery Items, such as tools, threads, shuttles and bobbins, scissors, measures, Etc. It is in fantastic condition for its age and displays beautifully. It has been unused and stored for many years. Some imperfections should be noted. There is fading and some fraying here and there. It measures approximately overall. 4 1/2 inches Tall x 18 inches Long x 12 inches Wide. The bottom of the basket is wood.
