We purchased an excellent 1700s papier domino book in Normandy. This book's cover is made with papier dominote paper. 'Domino' printed paper is decorated paper, the patterns having been printed using a woodblock with color applied using a paintbrush or stencil. In France, these sheets of paper decorated with geometric or floral patterns peaked in popularity during the second half of the XVIII th century. The patterns remain popular today and are considered extremely collectible items. This antique book is 230 years old and is in great condition. It measures approximately 5” x 7.5”. These are getting harder and harder to find. This is an original from France. This is not a reproduction.
