Beautifully crafted Victorian intaglio seal, engraved with the French motto "Une lettre adoucit les ieines de l'absence" which translates to "A letter softens the feelings of absence". This antique Victorian agate seal is a true gem for collectors of vintage and antique jewelry as well as letter writers. Truly, the motto of this pieces adds a touch of sentimental charm and the seal dates back to the 1850s. The seal matrix is about .51" in diameter and about .80" long. The matrix is in very good condition which is shocking given it's age of almost 175 plus years old. Someone must have loved this piece and taken very good care of it. This truly is one of the BEST pieces I have ever found.
