Elevate your space with this magnificent 19th-century French architectural statement piece. This extraordinary dimensional wall art features an authentic antique white-glazed faïence bénitier d'applique (holy water font) seamlessly mounted onto a rich, deep burgundy velvet backing. The entire sculptural vignette is housed within a spectacular, large hand-carved gilt wooden frame.

A true testament to French craftsmanship, the large oval frame is hand-carved from solid wood and finished in authentic, brilliant gilding. Exhibiting the flowing curves, asymmetrical flourishes, and scrolling shells of the classic Louis XV Rococo Revival style, the deep relief carving gives the piece an imposing, museum-quality presence.

The center focal point is a traditional white ceramic water vessel. The molded backplate features elegant classical styling, including a stylized dolphin/fish motif—historically a symbol of water and the French royal lineage—while the lower water basin rests gracefully atop a beautifully sculpted cherub head cul-de-lampe.

Whether left empty as a standalone historical sculpture or styled as a unique wall pocket planter for dried botanicals, this piece adds immediate soul and old-world European elegance to any interior. This piece measures 16" x 10" x 3".
