Absolutely beautiful Napolean III coat of arms seal stamp for the family Jegou du Laz. This coat of arms seal was found in Balaze' France and was only part of a collection we purchased. The seal matrix is made of brass and it has a lovely wood turned handle.
A little history we found about this seal and the name "Jegou du Laz" - The name "Jegou du Laz" is of French origin. "Jegou" is a Breton surname, common in the region of Brittany in northwestern France. "Du Laz" is likely a compound surname, with "Du" indicating a connection to a place or a noble family, and "Laz" possibly referring to a specific location or ancestral name. The combination of the two surnames suggests a link to a specific family or region in France. This seal was believed to be from original family members when it was sold to the the original collector.
The seal matrix measures aproximately .75" x .70" and stands approximately 3" tall. It is a beautiful piece with a traceable history for those collecting rare armorial and heraldry seals. The seal is stunning and in Mint condition.
