Beautifully crafted this seal features a lovely cherub on an agate main stone in an amber hue. This antique glass seal is a true gem for any collector. The seal features a central cherub with what appears to be a banner over its shoulder and a hanging heart in it's hand. Truly a charming piece which dates back to the later half of the 1800's.
The seal matrix is about .50" x .70" and sits at 2.75" tall. The matrix is in good condition with a fine line crack under the cherubs foot. You can barely see it in the seal impression. The handle feels like a soft stone but I am unsure. There is a small wiggle between the seal matrix and the handle but it is firmly in place. I would suspect this seal has been used a lot given it's age and content. However, it is still very much a piece that can be used despite its age of 150 years. We found this piece in Châteauneuf la Forêt, France.
