The center of the piece features a highly detailed, dark metal relief plaque capturing the holy Our Lady of Lourdes apparition, depicting the Virgin Mary in the grotto appearing to Saint Bernadette Soubirous kneeling in prayer. The central image is safely housed in a polished gold-toned bezel, beautifully contrasted against an iridescent, multi-pointed star base crafted from early French celluloid/bakelite designed to mimic mother-of-pearl.
