Beautiful Victorian Faith, Hope, and Charity fob/pendant crafted in sterling silver. Faith, Hope, and Charity were popular motifs in the Victorian and Edwardian periods and are expressed through a cross (faith), an anchor (hope), and a heart (charity). The way these three symbols have been incorporated with one another in this piece is beautifully playful. This piece dates from the mid-to-late 1800s. If you look at the heart one side is inscribed "Jesus" and the other is inscribed "Mary". This is just a gorgeous piece of history.

Faith

Representing the cross is faith, the belief in god, obedience, and His revelation.

Hope

Hope, the anchor, can often be seen when combined with the cross to create the crux dissimulata (representing the church), but it lends itself to a more literal translation of the obvious anchor, meaning hope.

Charity

Charity is represented by the heart, which is often depicted as burning.
