Beautiful and rare this antique Georgian glass seal features two hands entwinded. Around the hands is written the motto, "Usque Ad Cineres" which translates "From The Ashes To The Ashes". I purchased this piece as part of a private collectors collection. We discussed this piece at length and it almost feels like it might have belonged to someone in the mortuary business. I am not trying to be morbid but it is a fascinating piece and such a strange and rare motto to have on a seal. It would definitely add a touch of sentimental charm to any letters. This antique Victorian glass seal is a true gem for collectors. It is .75" long and .70" wide. This piece has some wear on the frame and a small chip on the glass but overall the condition is wonderful given its age of almost 185 years. It just needs to be cleaned.
