Beautiful vintage Miraculous Medal devotional cradle medallion. It features the iconic front and back imagery of the famous Catholic sacramental. It is a square plaque turned into a diamond position, featuring a dark tortoiseshell-style or celluloid backing material common in mid-century religious crafts.
The left side shows the front of the Miraculous Medal with the Virgin Mary standing upon a globe, crushing a serpent beneath her feet, and rays of light emanating from her hands. The surrounding text reads "Ô Marie conçue sans péché, priez pour nous qui avons recours à vous" ("O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee")
The right side shows the reverse side of the Miraculous Medal, displaying a cross atop a large letter "M" (representing Mary at the foot of the Cross), surrounded by twelve stars, and situated above the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
It has ring hooks and a chain for hanging. The medallion measures 1.75" square, not including the hanger. This piece is in fantastic condition.
