Beautiful antique scapulars from France, Italy, and Spain. Unfortunately, we cannot tell which country each piece came from as we purchased an entire collection of over 250 pieces. Each scapular has been hand-sewn.
Scapular A is made of soft cloth. It is hand-stitched in blue and has a picture of the Madonna in the center. Both sides measure approximately 1" x 1".
Scapula B is paper with blue flowers painted on it. It is secured in a sleeve with blue stitching around each side. One side reads Maris. It measures approximately .75" x .1".
Scapulars were usually made to order by nuns in convents. Devotional scapulars are objects of popular piety designed to show the wearer's pledge to a confraternity, a saint, or a way of life and remind the wearer of that promise.
Please note that these are not new. These are antiques, so wear is commensurate with age.
