Beautiful antique scapulars from France, Italy, and Spain. Unfortunately, we cannot tell which country each piece came from as we purchased an entire collection of over 250 pieces. Each scapular has been hand-sewn.
The scapular of immaculate conception is known as the blue scapular. While these two pieces are not solid blue, scapular A does have blue on the back side of the badge, and scapular B is stitched in blue and has blue cording.
Scapular A is cloth. It shows signs of wear on the blue cloth piece. It measures approximately 1".
Scapula B is cloth with tiny sequin beads in each corner. It shows wear on the backside. There is blue cording and stitching around the outside. It measures approximately 1" x 1.5"
Scapulars were usually made to order by nuns in convents. Devotional scapulars are objects of popular piety designed to show the wearer's pledge to a confraternity, a saint, or a way of life and remind the wearer of that promise.
Please note that these are not new. These are antiques, so wear is commensurate with age.
