Beautiful antique scapulars from France, Italy, and Spain. Unfortunately, we cannot tell which country each piece came from as we purchased an entire collection of over 250 pieces. Each scapular is unique in its own way. These have both been hand-sewn.
Scapular A is made of soft cloth. It has two envelope pouches sewn together back to back. Each side is hand-stitched in pink. Both sides measure approximately 1.65" x 1.3".
Scapula B is made up of two soft cloth pieces one of which is a heart. Both pieces are pale pink and hand stitched around the edge in yellow. The two cloth pieces are stitched together and there is a religious medal of St. Therese with them. St. Thérèse of Lisieux (1873-1897), also known as the Little Flower.
Scapulars were usually made to order by nuns in convents. Devotional scapulars are objects of popular piety designed to show the wearer's pledge to a confraternity, a saint, or a way of life and remind the wearer of that promise.
Please note that these are not new. These are antiques, so wear is commensurate with age.
