Beautiful antique scapulars from France, Italy, and Spain. Unfortunately, we cannot tell which country each piece came from as we purchased an entire collection of over 250 pieces. Each scapular has been hand-sewn.
Scapular A is made of soft cloth. It is white, hand-stitched in blue, and painted with flowers. Both sides measure approximately .75" x 1".
Scapula B is cream colored. The edges are stitched in brown thread with the madonna on one side. Both sides are painted with designs. It measures approximately .75" x .90".
Scapulars were usually made to order by nuns in convents. Devotional scapulars are objects of popular piety designed to show the wearer's pledge to a confraternity, a saint, or a way of life and remind the wearer of that promise.
Please note that these are not new. These are antiques, so wear is commensurate with age.
