Beautiful antique scapulars from France, Italy, and Spain. Unfortunately, we cannot tell which country each piece came from as we purchased an entire collection of over 250 pieces. Each scapular has been hand-sewn.
Scapular A is blue and white. The blue piece is shaped like a church steeple with a cross. Attached to it is a white piece with hand-stitched flowers. It measures approximately .60" x 1.1".
Scapula B is white and blue. The white pieces have a flap for closure, and the blue piece has painted florals with gold stitching on the outside. It measures approximately 1" x 1.5".
Scapulars were usually made to order by nuns in convents. Devotional scapulars are objects of popular piety designed to show the wearer's pledge to a confraternity, a saint, or a way of life and remind the wearer of that promise.
Please note that these are not new. These are antiques, so wear is commensurate with age.
