Beautiful antique preserved "Santino Manufatto", a traditional European handcrafted holy card or devotional item, dating to the early 1800s. These items were traditionally created in European convents and monasteries—most commonly in Italy. This specific piece represents the Portainfante, or Bambino Gesù in fasce (Infant Jesus in swaddling clothes). It features a small lithograph or a hand-painted paper-cutout head attached to a meticulously stylized, swaddled fabric body. The body is constructed from layered, aged textiles—including a woven canvas chest, red satin swaddling, and dark blue circular fabric framing the base—accented with delicate metallic trim, lace borders, and floral sequin embellishments.
