Lovely antique porcelain bisque flowers. These came to me in a larger collection of porcelain flowers. I had asked one of the antique dealers to search for more florals at the faire for bridal globes and they did a great job.
These probably date to the mid to late 1800's but probably were not used in Napoleon III Bridal Globes unless they were REALLY big ones. I mean these porcelain flowers are much larger than the last batch that came in. These only part of the second grouping of porcelain flowers I have ever had. These flowers are pretty much the same except for the colors. They all have long wires that show minimal rust at the end but some are missing leaves. I did get the leaves in a separate bag but they are not attatched however they will be included with the flower. They are made of tin.
All the stems are green and I do not believe that this is the original floral stem tape (if that is what they called it back then). Some of it is coming off of the wire and I can see a paler green up near where the base of the flower meets the stem. The darker green looks just fine and is to be expected given their age.
It really is shocking how flowers like these have survived but based on the quanitity of florals and way they came to me I am going to assume that someone was the creator of bridal globes. Each one of these flowers measures approximately 4" wide and 3" deep so they are a pretty good size. Please note in the pictures that some of the flowers have small chips on the end but it is barely noticeable.
