Wonderful antique French medal on the original ribbon. I found this while sorting, and it was in a book. The ribbon has been hand-stitched at the point where the medal is attached, so the medal lies flat when worn around the neck. Please note that these are not new and they are not reproductions. I ironed the ribbon to show the discoloration and wear due to use. Found as is. The medal is approximately 2" long and 1.2" wide. It is a heavy medal. The ribbon is about 36" long with the stitching and medal in the center.
The front of the medal features Mary on a globe with rays from her hands, bearing the French prayer: "Ô Marie conçue sans péché, priez pour nous qui avons recours à vous".The "Marie conçue sans péché" (O Mary, Conceived Without Sin) medal is the Miraculous Medal, designed in 1830 after apparitions to St. Catherine Laboure in Paris.
The side of the medal reads 29 NOVEMBRE 1917 and Valentine Dauresse, which is AMAZING.
