This is a beautiful 1800s relic representing St. Teresa. It is a stunning piece—a superb devotional shrine of St Teresa DI GESU. "Santa Teresa di Gesù" translates to "Saint Teresa of Jesus" in English. It refers to the Catholic saint Saint Teresa of Avila, also known as Saint Teresa of Jesus. Her life is a prominent example of the Carmelite Reform, and her writings explore themes of mystical union with God. This relic measures 5.5" wide x 6.75" high and 1" deep. There is amazing cutwork in this piece. Many materials, including gilded paper, metal, glass, and other materials, were used to make this. The back is covered in antique wallpaper. Truly a fabulous devotional piece. It was found in Normandy, along with several other pieces.
