This is an antique Italian medal that reads "In hoc signo vinces" on the cross. "In hoc signo vinces" is a Latin phrase that translates to "in this sign you will conquer". Under the cross on what looks to be a flowing metal ribbon, it reads "pellegrinaggio nazionale a Lourdes". "pellegrinaggio nazionale a Lourdes" translates to "national pilgrimage to Lourdes". This medal measures 2" x 2" and came in with a lot of Italian ex voto's. At one time in the 1950s, these were sold as brooches, but this particular medal is older and must have been sold as is—a commemorative piece from long ago.
