Wonderful Papier Dominote book. This is a VERY RARE pattern for a Dominote book. 'Domino' printed paper is decorated paper, with patterns printed using a woodblock and color applied with a paintbrush or stencil. In France and Italy, these sheets of paper decorated with geometric or floral patterns reached their peak in popularity during the second half of the 18th century. The patterns remain popular today and are considered extremely collectible items. The spine is worn, but the bindings are intact. The back cover is the original pulp board. It is in fantastic condition given its age, and these are getting harder and harder to find. This is an original from France. This is not a reproduction. While it is from the 1700s, it has been signed by several people on the inside with dates from the early 1800s. It reminded me of a library book.
