Beautiful antique French gilt metal watch chain fob. The 8" chain is a warm gold color you can't reproduce in the modern era. Dating to the 1920s - 1930s, we found this chain in Provence, France. Gilt metal chains are made from a base metal (such as brass or silver) that has been covered with a layer of gold through gilding or electroplating. It's a more durable and less expensive alternative to solid gold, offering a similar appearance. This piece is in SUPERB condition.
