This has everything to do with the wooden bobbin/spools and nothing to do with the thread. When I saw these, I just knew we had to have them. These are antique French wooden bobbins from a weaving mill. These bobbins have the original remnants of very fine silk, cotton, and linen wound onto them. These are all turned from solid wood, and they are just lovely. They vary in size, but most are about 2" in diameter and about 4.25" tall. I don't know the type of wood these were turned from, but it appears to be a lighter-colored hardwood with a wonderful patina.
These would be perfect to use as quilt or embroidery rolls, light pulls, thread, or yarn storage. These bobbins would make fabulous yarn storage for a drop spindle, or for displaying your hand-spun or hand-dyed yarns and/or threads. Endless possibilities. This is a limited stock item we came across, so once they are gone, they are gone. You are purchasing one bobbin/spool per purchase.
