This is an antique French Catholic religious medal featuring the profile of the Saint Virgin Mary (Our Lady of Lourdes). A finely detailed profile portrait of the Blessed Mother facing right, wearing a traditional veil and a halo (nimbus). The central medallion is framed by a diamond-cut geometric pattern and encased by an intricate openwork or chain-link-style circular border. Typically crafted in France between the 1920s and 1950s, these mid-century pilgrim tokens were popular souvenirs from Marian shrines like Lourdes. Many variants from this era were struck in solid silver, silver plate, or "Alpaca" (nickel silver).
