Beautiful antique scapular from France. This is a STUNNING piece. It was made from soft cream-colored wool cloth, with a red ribbon connecting the two pieces. The Sacred Heart Scapular is often made of white or red wool, featuring the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Virgin Mary (often as the Mother of Mercy or the Immaculate Heart). Approved by the Church in 1900, it originated from 1876 apparitions to Estelle Faguette and serves as a symbol of devotion, protection, and consecration.
Scapulars were usually made to order by nuns in convents. Devotional scapulars are objects of popular piety designed to show the wearer's pledge to a confraternity, a saint, or a way of life and remind the wearer of that promise.
Please note that this piece is not new. This is an antique, so wear is commensurate with age.
