Discover a stunning piece of ecclesiastical history: an authentic antique French Catholic devotional medal with an original ceremonial ribbon sash. Originating from France and dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, this beautiful insignia was historically worn by members of a French religious confraternity or the League of the Sacred Heart during processions and holy feast days.
The front of the heavy golden-brass medal features an ornate starburst design framing the Sacred Heart of Jesus topped with a cross, symbolizing divine love and mercy. The reverse side is clearly stamped with the sacred Latin motto from the Lord's Prayer: "ADVENIAT REGNUM TUUM" (Thy Kingdom Come).
Suspended from its original, wide French pinkish-red silk/grosgrain neck ribbon with elegant white-striped borders, this piece has been beautifully preserved. A rare find for collectors of religious antiquities, Victorian-era sacramentals, or historic French ephemera.
This is in excellent antique condition. The metal medal shows beautiful, genuine age-related patina and crisp stamped lettering. The original French silk-blend ribbon remains structurally sound, with light, natural fraying at the edges and minor historic fading that adds to its authentic character.
