Beautiful antique French robin's egg blue ribbon trims. We have limited stock of each trim style, but no matter. It doesn't take much to do a project. These are all originals from France. We purchased a large lot from a private collector in Provence and were thrilled to get it. These are all sold individually by the foot (12"), and they are made of rayon. Excellent for weddings, wrapping, sewing, scrapbooking, and any other unique project.
Rayon History -
Rayon, the first synthetic fiber, has a history that dates back to the late 19th century. The concept of rayon was developed by Swiss chemist Georges Audemars in response to the rising price of silk, which made it less accessible. In 1855, French scientist Count Hilaire de Chardonnet created a precursor to rayon called "Chardonnet silk". However, Chardonnay silk was more expensive and of lower quality than other options, and production declined by the 1920s and stopped by the 1940s.
