Antique French relic from Lourdes. A beautiful religious confection with the Virgin Mary and St Bernadette. Saint Bernadette is the patron saint of bodily illness, poverty, shepherds and sheperdesses, and Lourdes, France. She is also considered a patron saint for those who are ridiculed for their piety. This is a case we found in Normandy, France. This was most likely a souvenir purchased on a visit as a memento. At one time, this piece had a hinged stand on the back, allowing it to sit on a table. A wire has replaced the hinge, and it can now be hung. The frame appears to be silver metal, and the medallion in the center seems to be copper. The framed piece measures 3.75" tall and 2.6" wide at its base. The medallion in the center is 2.75" in diameter.
