Original French miniature traveling icon/relic/shrine. This stunning piece features Ste Josephine Vannini framed in purple and gold. The back has what appears to be done in a dominote paper, and there is a faded label of some sort at the top.
Ste Josephine Vannini (1859-1911) was an Italian nun and co-founder of the Daughters of Saint Camillus, dedicated to caring for the sick. She was canonized by Pope Francis in 2019.
This lovely piece measures 1.8" x 1.5" and is in near-mint condition, except for the label on the back. This is a wonderful piece of history. Soldiers used to carry these types of shrines in their pockets during the War.
