Gorgeous French picture hook covers known as Cache Clous which means "hide the hook" in French. This is a great French idea but most people don't know how or what they are used for. They are decorative metal ornaments that are hooked over a nail when hanging your painting or picture. These are designed to cover the unsightly nail and provide a more aesthetically pleasing look. There is a small fixing bracket on the back of each one that easily slips into position over the nail. When used as a cover they can provide a touch of French elegance to any room. Cache Clous can also be used as embellishments on other items, such as mirrors and furniture. They make a lovely finishing touch to any room's decoration giving a nostalgic Chateau Chic feeling. I am not sure if these are brass, gilt and ormolu and it can be confusing at times. However these are all originals from France. Louis XVI style.
