Beautiful antique French miniature portrait oil painting by way of France. The painting is in the original wood frame, complete with glass which shows no signs of damage. The painting appears to have some texture to it as if raised and the piece is signed. Around the oval glass covering the portrait is an additional brass/gilt frame. There is very old paper on the back so I was unable to open the piece to examine it more closely. on the left side of the back is written a name. I can't make it out but I think it reads "Mme de L........" but I can't make it out. There is a hanger on the back as well. Overall dimensions are 5.25" x 6.5" x .60". The Painting is in excellent condition. I can't be sure but I would say this is circa late 1700s early 1800s.
