This is a relic from France of The Sisters of Marie-Auxiliatrice. The Sisters of Marie-Auxiliatrice is s a religious institute of pontifical right whose members profess public vows of chastity, poverty and obedience and follow the evangelical way of life in common. They dedicate themselves to a lot of forms of activity, especially in favor of young people and the poor. This religious institute was founded in Toulouse, France, in 1864 and received pontifical status in 1868. This relic measures 1.75" x 1" and is .5" deep. It is in wonderful condition with multiple relics inside this single relic. It is hand embroidered all the way around as well as on the back and there is gold metal thread aroun the rim on the back side. I purchased this reliquary from an antique dealer in southern France who has access to a great many items and this is just one of the pieces I was able to purchase.
