Beautiful antique 1800s French framed hanging relic. This is a wall-hanging reliquary with a glass front. The central image reads MARIA. It is set deep in a hand-painted inner frame with dried paper flowers and leaves surrounding it. The inner hand painting around the central image is fantastic. The upper left corner of the frame exterior has a stiff bow covering a small crack. Most likely placed there at a later date to cover the crack. The outer frame front has a ribbon around the edge that has aged over time, holding the glass down. It is firmly in place. The back is papered in what appears to be old wallpaper, and at the top of the back is a cloth ring for hanging. The piece measures 8.4" wide x10.5" high x 1" deep. This is a stunning antique piece.
