Beautiful antique French gilt wood framed miniature. This is a wonderful piece. Although it originated from France, I am getting an Italian feel from this piece because of the remnants of paper on the back.. I cannot determine the original origin, as the information on the back has long since disappeared. This is a piece of a praying woman inside a gilt wooden frame. The frame is beautiful and the glass is intact. The back was, at one time, papered and repapered, so determining the original back covering isn't possible. The original cardboard is intact and held in place with rusted nails. I did not disassemble it for fear of damaging it. There is a triangle hanger on top, and this appears to be original to the frame. The overall dimension of the piece is 5.25" x 4.5". I wish I had more information on this piece, but I don't.
