Beautiful antique framed relic from Carmel du Monte des Oliviers (Mount of Olives) - Jerusalem. This is a lovely chippy gilt-framed piece which includes original dried flowers from Jerusalem. The flowers surround a beautiful chromo. Beneath the florals reads Beniles sur la Saint Sepulcre, France. Founded in 1873 by a group of Carmelites from Carpentras, France, the Carmel of Jerusalem is part of the long monastic tradition of the Mount of Olives. The framed piece measures 6" x 4". The original paper covering the back of the picture is long gone, but the picture with the dried florals is securely held in place with nails. There is a loop hanger secured with a cloth and two nails to the back of the frame, allowing it to be hung. This is a unique original we found in Provence, France.
