The oval cartouche showcases a charming, allegorical scene set in a rustic interior. It depicts a young woman playfully training two small dogs to stand on their hind legs, surrounded by onlookers. The lower left pedestal features the classical incised inscription: "L'ÉDUCATION... à Madame [Blondel]", honoring its historical 18th-century dedication.
Framed within classical archways and laurel wreaths, this metalwork features incredibly fine, tight lines that mimic the precise hatchings of a traditional master print. This plate features a gorgeous, naturally aged patina across its surface. It makes a magnificent, sophisticated statement piece for collectors of printmaking history, classical European art, or upscale French provincial decor. Made in France in the 19th Century (after the 1791 original). It is in excellent antique condition with a rich, authentic aged patina and minor surface wear consistent with age. The back has blue and white plaster where this piece was once mounted to something. This can easily be removed.
