Beautiful antique French Catholic devotional ribbon badge typically associated with a Marian sodality, congregation, or the French Women's League (Ligue des Femmes Françaises), dating from the early 20th century (circa 1900s–1930s). These medals are frequently found in aluminum or silvered brass. The cream grosgrain ribbon features gold embroidery reading "JHESUS MARIA". This specific archaic spelling ("Jhesus") and pairing were famously used on the battle banner and rings of Saint Joan of Arc. The text flanks an embroidered upright sword topped with a royal crown.
