Beautiful 1800s cast iron fragment. This piece features two winged angels facing each other. In the center are grapevines with leaves hanging on a trellis, and it looks as if the angels are holding the trellis up. This is a heavy iron piece. It has seen a lot of weather, and the patina is beautiful. Originally, this would have been an accent at a door entering a home. It was used as a shoe scraper to remove any excess debris from the bottom of one's soles. It measures 11" x 8" x 90". I can only imagine, given its age, how much it was used. Maybe it was outside a church or a monastery.
