Darling 1800's antique French bronze framed engravings of Marie Louise and her son Napoleon II. Each measures approximately 6.75" x 3.75". The frames are the same and each one is made of bronze with original brass loop hanger on the back on the top of each one. The original screws are still in place and I did not open these to see if anything else was behind the engravings. The frames are ornately decorated and each one has a bird on the top. Both engravings appear to be tinted and hand colored. These are both fabulous pieces of history in wonderful condition and were found togetherr in the south of France. You are purchasing one per purchase. Please see below for a little history.

Napoleon II (Napoléon François Joseph Charles Bonaparte; 20 March 1811 – 22 July 1832) was the disputed Emperpr of the French for a few weeks in 1815. He was the son of Emperor Napoleon I and Empress Marei Louise, daughter of Emperor Francis I of Austria. Napoleon II had been Prince Imperial of France and King of Rome since birth. After the fall of his father, he lived the rest of his life in Vienna and was known in the Austrian court as Franz, Duke of Reichstadt for his adult life (from the German version of his second given name, along with a title his grandfather granted him in 1818). He was posthumously given the nickname L'Aiglon ("the Eaglet").

Marie Louise (12 December 1791 – 17 December 1847) was Duchess of Parma from 11 April 1814 until her death in 1847. She was Napoleon's second wife and as such Empress of the French and Queen of Italy from their marriage on 1 April 1810 until his abdication on 6 April 1814.

Bronze, an alloy traditionally composed of copper and tin.
